About
“ARDO - Arakan Rohingya Democratic Organization”
Our organization was established on Jan 7, 2002 among young Rohingya youths and other intellectuals in exile to fight against the extreme human rights violation to our Rohingya community in Arakan, Burma by the brutal military government to eradicate our existence in our own motherland.
We fully believe that the only way to achieve back our rights is to bring Burma into a democratically elected leadership system under which all minorities in Burma including Rohingyas are treated equally and rightfully. We also believe that the 1990’s general election was done in free and fair and the election results must be honored and power must be handed over to the concerned party who won the election.
We also strong believe that we should cooperate and work together hand-to-hand with all other minorities in Burma to reach to our democratic goal against the wills of military junta.
Our flag signifies that we are two sister community staying side by side in Arakan. The white star with green background represents Rohingya minority whose religion is Islam and the Sun with red background represents Rakhine minority whose religion is Buddhist. The yellow triangle represents all other small minorities of Arakan. The boat in the middle of the emblem represents one of the major cultural symbols of Rohingya Community.
